MINUTES OF THE FOURTH MEETING OF

 THE DERBYSHIRE CHRONIC PAIN SUPPORT STEERING GROUP

The fourth meeting of the Derbyshire Chronic Pain Support Steering Group was held on Tuesday 19 February 2002, at the Derby Community Voluntary Services Offices.  

Attendees:        Mark Charity (Chairperson), Janet Owen (Secretary), Steve Wilson,

                        Sandra Cunningham, Wendy Lloyd (CVS)

Apologies:         Paul Hearne, Pauline Eales

Mark Charity (Chairperson) opened the meeting by welcoming, introducing and thanking everyone who attended.

Minutes from the last meeting held on 15 January 2002 were approved and signed as a true record.

1.         Constitution

Item 4 membership – Change of wording from accompanied by a friend to – accompanied by a person of their choice.   This was signed and passed by the committee.

2.         Advertising

Sandra Cunningham agreed to contact Primary Care regarding advertising in Doctors surgeries with a view to placing advertisements on their notice boards.   Sandra also agreed to contact SYNAPS which is a medical magazine distributed within the Derbyshire area, with regard to advertising the group.   Advertisements should also be placed on notice boards at the City Hospital and the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

It was put forward by Steve Wilson that we try and get some airtime on the local radio to promote the group.

3.         Funding

A cheque for £200 was received from Community Voluntary Services.   Mark Charity  thanked Wendy Lloyd and CVS on the groups behalf.   CVS require statements of finances every six months.

Funding for the group can also be obtained from Social Services but cannot be applied for before 1 May 2002.

Contact Pain Clinic with regards to obtaining funds from them.

4.          A.O.B

Discussions were held regarding a permanent room for group meetings.   The following suggestions were made

            The Guinness Trust Housing Association (Community Room)

            Wardwick Library

            JJB Pride Park

            YMCA, London Road

Decision to be made whether group meetings to be held in the morning or afternoon, time and day to be decided.

5.         Date of Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next meeting be held on Tuesday 12 March 2002, at The Guinness Trust, Community Room, 1 Sidney Street, Derby.
