MINUTES OF THE TWELFTH MEETING OF THE

DERBYSHIRE CHRONIC PAIN SUPPORT GROUP COMMITTEE

The twelfth meeting of the Derbyshire Chronic Pain Support Group Committee was held on 15 October 2002, at the Guinness Trust Community Room, 1 Sidney Street, Derby.

Attendees:    Mark Charity (Chairperson), Ray Whitehurst (Treasurer),

Janet Owen (Secretary), Margaret Whitehurst (Membership Secretary),

Sandra Cunningham, Naomi Memmory, Sheila Coxon, Pauline Povey, Jacklin Moss

Apologies:    Peggy Archer, Eileen Hogg

Mark Charity (Chairperson) opened the meeting by welcoming, introducing and thanking everyone who attended.

Minutes from the last meeting held on 3 September 2002 were approved and signed as a true record, except for item 1 Membership Numbers on Committee.   This item to be discussed at the next committee meeting.

1.               Funding From Derbyshire Community Foundation

The Conditions and reporting requirements for neighbourhood renewal grants were agreed and signed by the Chairperson.      Ray proposed and Jacklin seconded it.

2.                Norah Wickerson Physiotherapist/Nutritionist

At the last coffee morning Norah Wickerson came to talk to us on her speciality, she     would like to see if we could fund her.   Sandra said that Nora is not a qualified Nutritionist that it takes 5 years to qualify not 9 months.   Margaret said that you have to be careful just who you have dealings with.   Sandra agreed to get some qualification of this.   The committee agreed that there were many sweeping statements made.   A need to look into this further to be discussed at a later date all agreed.

3.       Statement of Funding and Finances

     Ray reported that our Bank balance stood at £186.81.

4.       Website

At the moment the Website is on Steve Wilson’s Web space.  Mark has found a Website for us to get our site updated there has been a lot of interest in our Website from other sources requesting to link it to their website.    By the end of this month we should ask Steve Wilson if he is interested in carrying on as Vice-Chairman.

5.       A.O.B.

Steve sent Mark an Email from Wendi Walker who is the Chairperson for Endometriosis Support in Derbyshire.   She was enquiring about our group and thought that we might be helpful to them, we have invited her to come to our next coffee morning to see what they think about the group.   If they wish they could join as a group or as individual members.    

Christmas Party

It was decided that we have our Christmas party on 17 December 2002, at

10.30 a.m. it will be held at the Guinness Trust Community Room, 1 Sidney Street, Derby.

Newsletter

There is an urgent need to get a newsletter out as soon as possible.   This will be done in the near future.

6.       Date of Next meeting

      It was agreed that the next meeting be held on Tuesday 26 November 2002,
