FIRST MINUTES OF

THE DERBYSHIRE PAIN SUPPORT GROUP

The first meeting of the Derbyshire Pain Support Group was held on Tuesday 12 November 2001, at the Derby Community Voluntary Services Offices.

Attendees:   Mark Charity. Steve Wilson, Pauline Eales, Janet Braithwaite, Sandra Cunningham, Wendy Lloyd (Derby CVS).

 Apologies:    E Hogg

Mark Charity (Chairperson) opened the meeting by welcoming, introducing and thanking everyone who attended.

 

1.    Talk by Wendy Lloyd – Derby CVS

Below are a few points on how to set up the group.

Check – There is no duplication of other groups providing similar support and/or services.

The Need – A group of committed people with TIME and ENERGY to take the idea forward and DO THE WORK (no one man bands).

What do we want to achieve – Be clear and realistic about our aims and objectives

 

2.   Name of Group

There was a discussion by the attendees to decide on a name for the group, whereby a vote was taken and the name of – DERBYSHIRE PAIN SUPPORT GROUP - (DPSG) was agreed upon. The Chairman MR Mark Charity telephoned all the committee to ask if it was possible to add in to the name Chronic as he thought it was needed the committee agreed to this. The name is DERBYSHIRE CHRONIC PAIN SUPPORT GROUP 

3.  Constitution - Rules and Regulations

There is a need to set up aims and objectives, powers and other constitutional items to enable the group to be set up in a professional manner.   We considered these should   be discussed in more detail at our next meeting.

Date of the next will be on 4 December 2001, 1.30 pm, at the Derby CVS Charnwood Street Offices.
